... we (HDC) are now FRONT RUNNERS in:
- Windows Azure
- Windows 7
- Windows 2008 R2
- SQL Server 2008

... our product suite has achieved

Part 2 - SharePoint 2010 - tip of the ice-berg
Please mark your calendars for Feb 17th 2010 http://www.h-spug.com - this is the continuation of the Nov event.

Presented: SharePoint 2010 - tip of the ice-berg

Here's the crux of what I presented on Nov.18.2009 at  http://www.h-spug.org :

Was holding off for our new SharePoint 2010 site … but too many requests and so decided to post the highlights on the current site.

°  Installing SharePoint 2010 on a box running a 32bit OS
If you have a machine capable that supports virtualization in the BIOS but is running XP/Vista/Win7 in 32bit mode - here's how you get SharePoint 2010 running on the same box!

1. enable virtualzation in BIOS
2. download and install a virtualization product.
Windows Virtual PC does NOT support a 64-bit host
... so the next best thing is from http://www.virtualbox.org/ - its FREE
3. add a new virtual machine and install Windows 7 64bit -or- Windows 2008 R2
4. download and install SharePoint 2010 http://sharepoint2010.microsoft.com/try-it/Pages/Trial.aspx

NOTE: This SharePoint setup is all encompasing.  First install the pre-requisites - then install sharePoint 2010 and do select the STANDALONE option ... enjoy 2010!

°  PowerShell is not just for Admins

The first command “Add-PSSnapin  Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell”

PowerShell is in Accessories > Windows PowerShell

°  Visula Studio 2010 … run as Administrator

Right Click > Properties > Compatibility > Check “Run … Administrator”

°  Single point for SharePoint 2010

Generation 2010 ...
I have been very silent ... this is the calm before the storm!
There is a lot going on with generation 2010 - have been under Microsoft NDA for a while - awaiting the public availability of SharePoint 2010.

The early winds of the storm:  have managed to blend in the shadows for so long .... but no more ... so here goes:
1. Speaking at the http://h-spug.com on Nov18.
2. Launching IASA in first quarter ... with generation 2010
3. Launch of our new site aaand ... but only after our customers are taken care of!

For those re-tooling/tooling/wondering, here's a reminder on gen 2010.
1. Do bing/google/yahoo/ask/clusty:  Office2010/SharePoint2010/Windows7/Windows2008R2/SQL Server 2008R2 and the beta 2 of VS2010!

2. Microsoft has new programs - the spark series:

Utilize the opportunities - learn and grow - and do NOT forget them - once you grow!

... more from Microsoft
Am sure a lot of you have heard of http://bing.com  by now - but what about http://vine.net - if not take a look ... suffice to say it has tremendous potential in the "people focused environments" ... more to come later... Cheers!«±»
Ramp Up!
Another very useful spot for those "re-tooling" themselves - go Ramp Up -  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/rampup/default.aspx

Upgrade Win7 Beta to RC and Rollback Win7 RC
I have had quite a few calls regarding Win7, both beta and RC - so here goes:

UPGRADING Win7 Beta to RC
> extract iso to a partition on the same box
> open the cversion.ini in sources sub dir
> change the the MinClient to say 6999.0
> save and re-run setup

ROLLBACK Win7 beta or Win7 RC
This article says Vista - but works flawlessly in our tests for Win7 too  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933168

Hope this saves you some time ... Cheers!«±»
F# User Group
Some of you may remember our discussion in 2006 about C Omega and F# while there were still in incubation ... then came the announcement of F# debuting in .NET 4.0 ... and now Houston - we have our own F# User Group - click here to see David's blog

Better late than never ... and those of you who know me - know I surface only to breathe and then submerge - so i missed highlighting this earlier!

SideNote: those of you who think F# is only for the Scientific Community and Mathematicians ... well, if you do OO then, I suggest take a look at it first.

Countdown to 2010 begins the recovery wave for the Smart Enterprises
Given the nature of todays' circumstances {economic/Corporates slow adoption of Vista/Java/etc.} ... here's the immediate future :

1. Corporates  who have  held off - now have a clean horizontal integration of Microsoft's "FAMILY" of products, shile leapfrogging the verticals.

2. So those of you who are re-tooling and ramping up for the recovery wave ... remember the Corporates :-)

SharePoint Server 2010 is supercharged with :
- Grove now as SharePoint Workspace
- OneNote
- PerformancePoint as the BI

Exchange 2010

Windows 7 (with XP virtualized)

Windows Server R2 (IIS 7.5)

Visual Studio 2010 with .NET 4

Here's wishing you all the best!
